### How much does Etsy take?
Three fees on every sale: $0.20 to list the item, 6.5% of the sale as a transaction fee, and 3% plus $0.25 to process the payment. On a $100 item with no shipping or tax that comes to $9.95, leaving you $90.05.
### What percentage does Etsy take?
6.5% for the transaction fee and 3% for payment processing — but they are not charged on the same amount, so adding the two percentages together gives the wrong answer. Counting the listing fee and the fixed processing fee, $100 keeps 90.1% of the item price.
### Does Etsy charge fees on sales tax?
Only one of them does. The transaction fee leaves sales tax out, and the payment processing fee counts it in — the same sale, two different bases. A calculator that applies one rule to both fees is wrong on one of them.
### Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
Yes. Etsy charges the transaction fee on the shipping you charge the buyer as well as on the item price, and the payment processing fee applies to the whole order. What the postage actually costs you is separate — it comes off what you keep.
