## Common questions

### How much does Stripe charge?

2.9% of the payment plus a fixed $0.30 on a standard online card payment in the United States. On $100 that is $3.20, so $96.80 lands in your account.

### Does Stripe charge more for international cards?

Yes — 1.5% on top of the base rate when the card was issued outside the United States. On $100 that takes the fee from $3.20 to $4.70.

### Do Stripe's surcharges replace the base rate?

No. They stack on it, and they stack on each other. An international card, typed in by hand, that also needs converting pays the base rate plus all three surcharges at once — 5.9% plus $0.30, or $6.20 on $100.

### How do I calculate Stripe fees?

Add up every surcharge that applies to the payment, add the base 2.9%, multiply the payment by that total, then add $0.30. The fixed fee is charged once per successful payment, whatever the amount.
