- Charged separately when the payment arrives in another currency, and applied on top of everything above. It depends on the buyer, not on what you sell.
- Refunds and chargebacks
- Have their own fees, and they depend on what happens after the sale rather than on the sale itself.
- Micropayments pricing
- A separate opt-in schedule for small payments. This page uses the standard table only.
- The fixed fee follows the currency
- PayPal sets it on the currency received — $0.49 in US dollars — not on where you live.

How can I calculate PayPal fees?
- Multiply the payment by the rate for your payment type, then add the fixed fee — 3.49% plus $0.49 on PayPal Checkout. The international surcharge of 1.5% adds to that rate rather than replacing it, and the fixed fee follows the currency you are paid in, not the country you live in.
How much is the PayPal Goods and Services fee?
- Send/Receive Money for Goods and Services is charged at 2.99% of the amount received, with no fixed fee — the only line in PayPal's table without one. On $100 that is $2.99, leaving you $97.01. PayPal Checkout costs 3.49% plus a fixed $0.49 instead.
Why is PayPal charging me a fee to receive money?
- Because it arrived as a commercial payment. PayPal's Send/Receive Money for Goods and Services line takes 2.99% of the amount received and no fixed fee, so on $500 you are charged $14.95 and keep $485.05. The rate follows how the money reached you, not what you sold.
